If you're experiencing low back pain, you might be dealing with sciatica. Don't know a lot about sciatica? Keep reading, we will explain what it is and how we can help you feel better.
What Is Sciatica?
The sciatic nerve starts in your lower back before splitting and stretching down both sides of your body, out to your hips, and down the rear end into both legs. Sciatica is the pain that runs along the nerve caused by that nerve being pinched. While the sciatic nerve ventures down both sides of the body, sciatica typically stays on one side. That side is the one with the pinched nerve. The pain associated with the condition consists of shooting down the back and into the leg or a burning sensation. It's also common to have numbness in the back of the leg.
What Causes Sciatica?
Typically, sciatica sets in after the sciatic nerve becomes a pinched nerve. This usually happens with herniated disks or a bone spur on a vertebra. They put pressure on the nerve, which is what flares up the pain.
What Are Sciatica Treatment Options?
Once the conditions are met to produce sciatica, there are things that can set off suffering. Not moving around enough or clothes that are a bit snug are a couple of reasons sciatica can be set off. Until the issue is dealt with, you may be just sitting and enjoying a show when suddenly, your back has a spasm. So, what can be done?
First, depending on how severe the symptoms are, will determine how a treatment plan will be designed. Here is an overview of how treatment might go:
